It is with deep regret and sadness to inform you we have made the difficult decision to close our doors to Mercato Zacconi.
The decision has been the most challenging as our small business is like a family. The unfair targeting of our small store by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has had a devastating impact on our success and ability to survive over the last few months. If you have any question or comments as to why we were unfairly targeted, please contact Compliance Inspector Tyler McCarthy at tyler.mccarthy@AGCO.ca or 613-218-7909.
This difficult transition is not one we take lightly as we will be losing 40 dedicated and appreciative employees in the process. We tried as hard as we could to stay open to provide for our employees but also our community. Our family have been small business owners for generations taking pride in serving and being so active in the community we love so much. We are so grateful for all the support we have had over the past two years and will always be thankful for everyone who walked through our doors.
Until our last day of operations, we will continue to serve you with the same dedication and commitment that has defined Mercato Zacconi. We invite you to come in and take advantage of any ongoing sales or promotions, we would be so delighted to see you. Any current gift cards will be honoured until December 31st.
Our sister business, Sala San Marco continues to stay open. We will be converting the space our dear grocery store was in to be able to host even more people and more events at Sala San Marco. Our capacity will increase to over 500 people as it was prior to Mercato. The current and future success of Sala San Marco is our focus during this transition.
We cannot thank our community enough. Nothing we do would be possible without the support of you. Now more than ever, it is so important to support local businesses. Although we are sad and defeated about the loss of Mercato, a business we are so proud of, we are so grateful and appreciative that Sala San Marco continues to be able to serve the community we love so much.
Thank you!
